Passionate MOM, GARDENER, AND WORLD TRAVELER
Meet Louann Walkerwhat can I say about myself...
All my life I have been surrounded by gardening. When I was just a few years old growing up in Southern Louisiana, I'd ride with my Dad on his tractor while he plowed rows and rows of Southern Purple Hull Peas, Okra, and Watermelons. Not long after, I was picking all of these vegetables in the garden with my siblings and we'd often do the hard chore afterwards of shelling peas, washing okra, and preparing everything to sell and give to our local community. It wasn't a profit my Dad was after. He knew there was no profit in gardening as a hobby. Instead, my parents simply found joy in growing their own food, sharing it with their community, and nourishing our family with the fruits of our labor.
A wonderful seed was planted in me then that grew into a love to do the same for my family. I cherish early mornings in my garden. I cherish sunrises and sunsets over the lush foliage that grows as I put each seed in the ground. I simply love the process and the ability to produce from the blessings of the Earth. I hold a lot of joy in doing so. I proudly teach my kids to do the same and my greatest goal is to become a Master Gardener. Outside of my own garden, I am also a chair on our schools garden committee and love giving back to our local gardening community by sharing my knowledge.
Aside from gardening, I love trail running, riding horses, and traveling the world with my husband Chase, whom I met studying abroad in Greece. But no, he's not Greek -- he's Texan and somehow converted me to a Texan too. We have 3 beautiful children, Carson, Aveline, and Amelie who we love to bring around the world with us.
